Merene Botiso Brenyah is a leading Ghanaian lawyer and a seasoned entrepreneur. Merene serves on various boards in Ghana, including the Standard Bank (Stanbic Ghana) and Tullow Oil. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics, London University and the Ghana School of Law.
Merene is the Managing Partner of one of Ghana’s leading law firms, JLD & MB Legal Consult and has led various landmark transactions in Ghana including the AngloGold Ashanti Limited re Global Rights Issue, AngloGold Limited of South Africa in $1.89 billion merger with Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited, Merger of Total Oil Ghana Ltd with Mobil Oil Ghana Ltd, Zain Ghana Ltd (now Airtel) re multimillion dollar Equipment Financing Transaction.
Merene advised Golden Star Resources Limited in its Public Offering and Listing on Ghana Stock Exchange and Delta Air Lines Inc. entry into Ghana, including obtaining regulatory consents and licenses for the start-up of its operations. Merene has also advised international Oil and Gas companies with respect to negotiations with Ghana National Petroleum Company and Government of Ghana; conclusion of Petroleum Agreements; advice on regulatory issues etc.
Her law firm was also the Joint Lead Managers re $750 million Government of Ghana Sovereign Bond. Merene is a member of the Gray’s Inn in England, Member of the Ghana Bar 1980, Member of FIDA, and Member of the Association of International Women Lawyers. Merene is a known philanthropist and gender rights advocate.
